“I have been working for Lovelace for over three years. There are four respiratory therapists per shift for Lovelace Women’s Hospital, and we see more patients than most people realize. We rotate on a weekly basis the units and floors we are assigned to including the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), labor and delivery, intensive care unit (ICU), emergency department and the medical/surgical floor. Overall, a majority of who we see are post-op patients. We perform respiratory assessments, review their lung history and encourage them to use breathing machines and do exercises so they do not develop pneumonia. I have been a respiratory therapist for almost 20 years and I enjoy my job at Lovelace because I am constantly rotating through the hospital. It never feels routine to me. At Lovelace, I feel like we have a very strong team of therapists. As a team, we have so many tools and techniques, but there is always room to grow and learn. We have the knowledge, but without our tools, we wouldn’t be able to do nearly as much, so learning and developing new techniques is very important.” - Juany Linden, Respiratory Therapist for Lovelace Women’s Hospital. #RespiratoryCareWeek Pictured from left to right: Jessica, Casey, Juany, and Dymond - Lovelace Women’s Hospital Respiratory Therapists.
